    Quality Engineer Responsibilities:

    ·         Lead Continuous Improvement Team using LEAN tools, driving quality, delivery and productivity improvement across all functions of the facility

    ·         Drive corrective action identification and implementation for all confirmed quality issues, using 8D, PPSR and other applicable processes

    ·         Lead FMEA teams as needed, including action implementation and verification.

    ·         Process all First Article and PPAPs as needed for new and transfer tools

    ·         Support audits (customer and industrial) as needed

    ·         Act as primary contact for customers on quality inquiries.

    Minimum Requirements: What is required to perform the Essential Duties?

    ·         High School Diploma or equivalent.

    ·         Must have completed an apprenticeship or have at least 5 years of experience in the field.

    ·         Familiar with a variety of concepts, practices and procedures.

    ·         Ability to perform basic math functions using whole numbers, fractions and decimals

                including metric /english conversion. A basic understanding of algebra and geometry.

    ·         Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, set-up, operating and maintenance instructions.

    ·         Knowledge of measuring equipment usage, such as micrometer, caliper and optical comparator.

    ·         Blue print reading with geometric tolerances.

    ·         Ability to read die assemblies, change-over and detail prints from various sources.

    ·         Capable of writing routine correspondence and reports.

    ·         Ability to solve practical and mechanical problems (Mechanical aptitude).

    ·         Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.          

    ·         Must have the ability to successfully complete all training requirements as listed on training matrix for this position.

    ·         Must be available for scheduled work: normal work day of 8 hours or more as necessary, night shift

       and weekend work is possible.

    • Responsible for tying or assisting with tying material onto racks with wire or chain for safe movement through the galvanizing process.
    • Use wire to tie material to bow racks, universal racks, or other tooling to prepare for the pickling tanks using specific training methods for the galvanizing process.
    • Use rope to lift and prepare material for the pickling tanks using specific training methods for galvanizing process.
    • Operates and visually inspects all equipment (i.e. forklifts, cranes, tooling, etc.) prior to usage to ensure no maintenance is needed.
    • Learns to rack a variety of materials by assisting others.
    • Racks, unracks or cleans material in order as directed.
    • May learn to use a torch to dry materials before hot dipping.
    • May clean material using a grinder, file, or brush as specified by the customer.
    • Inspects material for sags, runs, drips, bare spots and reports it to management.
    • Uses bolt cutters to remove wire from product and tooling and disposes of it per established procedures.
    • Learns to inspect materials for holes, smothered spots, etc.
    • Perform housekeeping activities to keep production area and equipment clean and organized.
    • Confers with supervisors to report material conditions that could result in production or customer problems by form of damage or quality issues.
    • May assist with training new production helpers as specified by management.
    • Required to wear protective equipment, follow safety rules and all company policies and procedures.
